About the Series

Queen City Chamber Music is a new concert series in Charlotte, created to bring virtuosic chamber music ensembles from around the world into an intimate, engaging, and community-centered setting.

Curated by the award-winning wind quintet, ZaRiah, the series presents programs that place music by living composers in conversation with beloved standard repertoire, creating concerts that feel both familiar and adventurous.

Our mission is to make chamber music feel immediate, personal, and alive for today’s audience

Why Chamber Music Matters
Four women playing musical instruments: one with a violin, one with a cello, one with a harp, and one with a flute.

For a vibrant city with a thriving arts landscape, chamber music offers one of the greatest returns on investment for the arts community. Chamber music is the most adaptable form of classical music, as it can found in houses and outdoor venues, just as it can be found in recital halls and art galleries. The possibilities are endless, and the connections formed are life long.

The desire and need for human connection are most apparent in society today. Chamber music is uniquely positioned to meet that need.

Imagine a concert in a NoDa brewery followed by an informal reception, or a concert in a beautiful recital hall with a pre-concert talk and cocktail hour.

These experiences foster active engagement and excitement that invigorates the soul, turning performances into shared experiences.

Because of its scale and versatility, chamber music encourages meaningful interaction between performers and audiences. In doing so, it not only strengthens the cultural fabric of a city, but also creates an environment where creativity and community flourish.
