Brandon Wong, guitar
Brandon Wong has studied classical guitar lessons at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music (PCM) since age 5. For many years, he studied under the important guidance of Felix Bullock, and from 2013-2016, Brandon also studied under Andrew York, a Grammy winner member of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. From 2016-2019, Brandon studied under Dr. Connie Sheu, who helped Brandon prepare for college music school auditions. Under Dr. Sheu’s coaching, Brandon placed first in the 2017 Andriassian Guitar Competition at Cal State LA.
Brandon participated in the PCM-sponsored Los Angeles Youth Guitar Orchestra international exchange program with the Guitarreando Guitar Orchestra in Stuttgart Germany. The orchestras toured throughout California, as well as in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland. Brandon has also studied for 8 years in Yale Professor Ben Verdery’s guitar summer master class in Maui. During Brandon’s time at Yale, he was invited as a guest artist to The Mahidol University International Guitar Festival in Bangkok, Thailand, as well as the Saigon International Guitar festival in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Brandon has had Master Classes with: Scott Tennant, Marcin Dylla, Alfonso Montes & Irina Kircher, Andrew York, Ben Verdery, David Leisner, Martha Masters, Adam Del Monte, Mark Eden & Chris Stell, Thomas Viloteau, Julian Gray and Sergio Assad.
Brandon received his B.M. in Classical Guitar Performance from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University and his M.M. in Music Performance from Yale University. Recently, Brandon has received his Masters of Musical Arts from Yale University under the guidance of guitar professor João Luiz Rezende.
